You can taste COVID vaccines in a Budapest ice cream shop-PHOTOS
There is an ice cream shop in Budapest that has created a few new flavours inspired by the solution to the ongoing pandemic. At least we can all agree that if actual vaccines were that tasty, vaccination would be much easier.
Metropol reported that an ice cream shop on Mester street in Budapest was inspired by how vaccines were stored in a cold environment and gave the owner an idea where he could live out his creativity. Renato Barile, the owner of I Love Gelato told the news outlet that he could tell many stories about the shop, but the most exciting thing currently are the vaccine-inspired ice creams they have recently created.
“We have a lot of ice creams. We serve about 35-40 kinds at a time. We tried to create these “vaccine ice creams” that are specific to the producing countries, so Sinopharm, for example, evokes the flavours of an Asian country, so it is coconut and passion fruit flavoured. Johnson and Johnson is American cheesecake flavoured, Pfizer is a Kinder chocolate ice cream, Sputnik is an alcoholic dessert, and the last is Moderna, which is a Snickers-like, hazelnut, and caramel ice cream,”
– Renato told Metropol.
According to the owner, the most popular might be the Moderna ice cream. He also added that the idea came from an Italian confectionery and that he was thinking about how some of the vaccines are stored in a freezer, Origo reported.

“We had great success on social media. A lot of people liked it, but unfortunately, there were also negative comments. I would not want to offend anyone by making a joke out of the pandemic”
– the owner said to Metropol. He also noted that the pandemic had an effect on them as well, and due to the bad weather, the number of customers was much lower than usual.
Previously another Hungarian store was also inspired by the vaccines. The Sulyán Confectionery in Veresegyház has also created its own take on the coronavirus vaccines. They have made a series of tasty cakes.
“During brainstorming, one of our confectioners said that we should name the new cakes after the vaccines. We had a great laugh, but I kept thinking about it. The next morning I started at the pharmacy and bought some syringes. When I told my colleagues that I took that joke seriously, they looked at me like I was mad,”
– Katalin Sulyánné Benkó, the manager of the confectionery, told Metropol.
